British Automobile Association's leaflet on proper car/bicycle etiquette. Their own words sums up the nature of the leaflet best "to make motorists and cyclists more aware of one another, and to counter the intolerance that can develop between them - in short, to establish a climate of mutual courtesy and care." Keep this one in your quiver and pull it out around your motor-only buddies. One other point, "pavement" in Britian translates in America as sidewalk.
